As an Artisan Bread Expert, you'll apply a mastery of skills in a specialized area, and maintain quality of products. You'll rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned goals, serve as a resource to others to resolve complex issues, and train future Artisan Bread Experts, Bakers, and Fryers.

We are looking for:
- scratch baking experience
- communication and interpersonal skills

What is the work?
Customer Service:
- Assists customers with bakery products and purchases
- Uses suggestive selling techniques to meet customer needs and to build department sales
- Makes regular announcements to inform customers of freshly-baked products

Production:
- Expertly creates a variety of top quality breads from scratch, including artisan pan breads, natural fermented breads, and hearth breads (tasks include mixing, shaping, scoring, baking all products)
- Produces a variety of pan dulce pastries, according to visual training aids (VTAs)
- Executes production efficiently (using production planning tools); recommends adjustments based on actual movement performance
- Properly tops / finishes all baked goods to create a fresh and appetizing presentation
- Maintains product integrity through proper storing, handling, proofing, planning / breaking out of all baked goods
- Ensures quality control of all products before sending to sales floor
- Ensures cake product reaches the showcase and tables at the prescribed times
- Trains future Artisan Bread Experts, Bakers, and Fryers
- Performs Rep and Specialist duties as required

Food Service:
- Organizes back storage room, freezer, cooler, and production area
- Assists with inventory control, including loading, unloading, moving, and storing products

Food Safety:
- Maintains sanitation in work area
- Complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
- Ensures all products comply with H-E-B code dating policy
- Ensures productivity standards are met without compromising product quality
- Ensures potentially hazardous foods are maintained under appropriate temperatures

What is your background?
- 3+ years of experience in Bakery specialization (preferred)
- 6+ months experience in scratch mixing, shaping, and baking
- Bake Works and Fry Works training
- Completion of food sanitation and safety training

Do you have what it takes to be a fit as an H-E-B Artisan Bread Expert?
- Working knowledge of the use of baking equipment, including set-up, cleaning, operating, and maintenance
- Knowledge of H-E-B systems (PC, symbol, scales, label machine)
- Strong customer service skills
- Communication and interpersonal skills
- Reading and writing Skills

- Demonstrate the ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Demonstrate the ability to manage in excess of 70 lbs**
